HOME / ABOUT OUR WORKSHOP

The first press advertisement. The 20s of the last century.

A FAMILY TRADITION (OF APPLIED ARTS)

Our story begins in downtown Poznań on October 26, 1926. Alfons Mielcarek, about to turn 30, had just quit his job as the administrator of Count Turno's estate and established a bedding and duvet workshop in a two-story building located at 36 Wrocławska Street. The quality, comfort, and the aesthetic value of our products gained recognition on the local market in no time.

The company survived the Second World War only for the infamous ‘battle for trade’ waged by contemporary authorities halting its development. Wytwórnia Pościeli i Kołder "Emkap" restarted its activity in 1956 and, to this day, offers down and feather products of the highest quality – combining the precision of traditional techniques with a modern design. We sew by hand and accept individual orders only, taking into account our clients’ needs and individually selected warmth parameters. Customers from all over Poland, Germany, Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Italy, the UK, the US, Canada, Australia, and South Africa enjoy fantastic sleep wrapped in our duvets.

WHERE TRADITIONAL CRAFTSMANSHIP COMBINES WITH MODERN TECHNOLOGIES

The design, manufacture, and maintenance of our products are state-of-the-art, but we also make use of certain pre-war techniques currently employed by only a handful of manufacturers. These laborious manual techniques increase the products’ quality and provide our customers with unique, durable, and beautiful items designed and made to ensure they enjoy deep and reinvigorating relaxation for many years to come.

QUALITY AND DURABILITY OF NATURAL MATERIALS

Our duvets are defined by the softness of their outer material and the fluffiness of their filling, tempting you to wrap yourself in them round the clock, all year round. Our products are filled with a truly world-class material – the white goose down sourced locally from the Greater Poland geese. It’s light, soft, and characterized by a high fill power, providing the best air circulation, thermal insulation, sleep comfort, while remaining a true delight to touch. It feels like you’re hugging clouds, which cool you down in summer and offer warmth in winter.

CARE FOR A UNIQUE FINISH

Due to down’s unique ability to regain its shape and the durability of its exclusive properties, our products will last a lifetime if properly stored and regularly rejuvenated. All our products are delivered in reusable, suitcase-like cotton cases that ensure your duvets and pillows are stored in perfect conditions. We designed them so that the duvets and pillows can breathe and take up as little space as possible when stored in your wardrobe. Please bear in mind that our products and the packaging are entirely plastic-free.

We believe our local community is as crucial as the environment. We work with trusted, ethical local suppliers who farm goose in a sustainable way and source down and feathers responsibly.

We care about employee comfort and satisfaction. A friendly atmosphere and mutual respect are ever-present in our company and mean we work alongside the same people for many years.

CARE FOR YOUR SATISFACTION AND PLEASURE

The most important thing for us is the satisfaction of well-rested customers. Reach out to us – we’ll be more than happy to guide you through our offer and the process of creating our products, we’ll advise you on what product to choose, wrap your items as gifts or design a personal monogram. We will take in your requirements and fine-tune our products to match your sleeping needs. Your healthy and restful sleep is our top priority.

Sleep better, live better.
